If you are a proud owner of an Audi, you most likely want to do your best to ensure that it runs well and lives a long full life. Just like any car, Audis are prone to different issues, some more than others. There are a few problems that are common with Audis, and you should know about them in order to ensure that you can keep your eye out for the first signs of problems and get your car into an Audi service as soon as possible.

Ignition Coil Issues

Ignition coils helps start your car up and send enough power from your car's battery to light the fuel in your car. When you have a faulty or non-working ignition coil, your car won't start up. Before your ignition coil fails completely, there will be a few signs. First, you might notice that your car doesn't start up right away. It might take two or three tries to get your car to fully start. Secondly, when you are driving, you might experience misfires. This will result in the car shaking slightly and a loud noise. You might also notice the check engine light turning on, along with these other symptoms. This part needs to be replaced when it starts acting faulty in order to ensure that your car will run properly.

Electrical Issues

Electrical issues are common with Audis and can impact many parts of the car. The most common electrical problems include complete failure of the dashboard displays and tail lights that no longer properly light up. Luckily, you can catch electrical problems early if you keep your eyes out. Flickering displays, as well as flickering interior lights, are the first sign of electrical issues. If you notice your Audi's lights flickering, take it in to have it checked out ASAP before you experience total failure.

Catalytic Converters Issues

Your car's catalytic convertor helps to covert the pollutants from your car, commonly the exhaust, into less-harmful pollutants. The first sign of problems with your catalytic convertor will be heavy, darker smoke coming from your exhaust pipe. You might notice your exhaust trailing more than usual if you have this issue. The exhaust, along with being thicker and darker, will also produce an unpleasant smell. Instead of smelling like standard exhaust, the exhaust will strongly smell of sulfur.

If your catalytic convertor is having problems, it also might translate into poor performance. If you notice your car taking longer to accelerate, or feeling sluggish instead of speedy, it might be the catalytic convertor. Luckily this part can be swapped out rather easily.

Faulty Oxygen Sensor

Your car's oxygen sensor is in place to monitor the amount of unburned oxygen that is still present in your exhaust when your exhaust starts to exit the car's engine. When your car's oxygen sensor is faulty, you will notice that your gas mileage suddenly drops. If you keep track of your gas mileage, this will be your first indication of a problem with the oxygen sensor. If you aren't one to keep track of gas mileage, then you can keep an eye out for performance issues. If your car feels like the engine is taking longer to respond, or if it feels less powerful than you are used to, the issue could be with your oxygen sensor.

Knowing these known Audi issues will ensure that you can detect potential problems with your Audi before its too late and much more extensive repairs will have to be done. Keep them in mind and keep your eyes and ears out for the first signs of problems in order to ensure that you get the most out of your Audi. If you do notice problems, take your Audi into an auto shop, such as Euroclassics Limited.
